IPL Photofacial
What is Lumecca?
Using IPL (intense pulse light) technology, Lumecca is optimized to treat facial pigmentation, superficial vessels, skin texture and/or photodamage. Katherine has had great results in treating patients with acne, redness, hyperpigmentation, and spider veins.
When will I see results?
Most patients see results in 10 days but optimal results often require multiple treatments scheduled 3 weeks apart. The longer the pigment or sun damage has been there, the deeper it is.
How can I best prepare for my treatment?
Stop the use of retinol, AHAs, BHAs, or any active skincare products 5-7 days before your appointment.
If you are taking or have taken any medication that is photosensitizing, we are unable to treat your skin for 10-14 days.
When outside or in direct sunlight be sure to wear your SPF. Clients must bring in their SPF to their appointment for Kate to approve of using whilst healing. Tinted sunscreens are especially helpful at protecting your skin due to the iron oxides, plus they can cover imperfections in the skin.
Post Care
A mild sunburn-like sensation is expected. This usually lasts 2-24 hours but will subside. Mild swelling and/or redness may accompany this.
Minor crusting of the skin and peeling/flaking is normal. In rare cases blisters may occur. If so, do NOT pick or exfoliate, please call the office or email your provider with photos.
Keep the area clean. Wash gently and avoid scrubbing until sensitivity and coloring of the treated area as returned to normal or at least 48 hours post treatment.
Avoid direct sun exposure, including sun lamps and tanning beds, for 2-3 weeks following your treatment. Direct exposure can result in hyperpigmentation (darkening) or hypopigmentation (white tissue).
Always apply treated areas with SPF 30+ to protect from direct and indirect sun exposure.
Until redness has resolved avoid applying cosmetics, active skincare products, swimming (especially in treated water) hot tubs and Jacuzzis, and activities that cause excess perspiration.
Moisturizer and cosmetics can be applied directly following your appointment.
